How to transfer files from your Seedbox to your local device with Filezilla

Learn how to transfer files in between your device and your Seedbox with FileZilla through two different FTP protocols

Introduction

What is SFTP?

SFTP or secure FTP connection represents a secure way to download/upload your files from a Seedbox using an encrypted/Secure FTP connection on port 2222 on our Fast, Stream, Rapid, and Furious Seesboxes and port 63526 on Swift/Supreme This encryption ensures the confidentiality and security of your data, eliminating the need for additional VPN tools during transfer.

What is FTPS?

FTPS or File Transfer Protocol over TLS represents a secure way to download/upload your files from a Seedbox using a TLS-encrypted FTP connection on port 21.

In this quick guide, we’ll show you how to log into your Seedbox securely and transfer files using these two protocols. This includes both downloading files from your Seedbox and uploading files back to it.

Different platforms

We strongly recommend Filezilla as your default client for SFTP and FTP connections. FileZilla not only supports different platforms but also ensures encrypted file transfers, enhancing security without needing a VPN.

Why? Because Filezilla is supported on every operating system ( Windows, Linux, OSX…).

The procedure for logging is the same on every platform, so just follow the steps below no matter what platform you are using.

Download and Configure

Download the FileZilla FTP client for the platform that you are using:

Windows:

FileZilla Win 64bit version and FileZilla Win 32bit version.

Linux:

FileZilla Linux 32bit version or FileZilla Linux 64bit version.

MAC OS X:

FileZilla Mac OS X version.

How Can I Resolve the '530 Login Authentication Failed' Error in FileZilla for Seedbox?

Encountering the 530 Login authentication failed error while trying to connect your Seedbox with FileZilla can be frustrating. This error usually points to an issue with login credentials or configuration. Below are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the error effectively:

1. Verify Your Password

Ensure the password you are using is correct. Re-enter it carefully into FileZilla to avoid typing errors.

2. Avoid Extra Characters from Copy-Paste

If you copy-paste your password, unwanted characters might inadvertently get added. To avoid this, follow these steps:

  • Copy your password from its source

  • Paste it into a text editor like Notepad

  • Re-copy the password from Notepad and paste it into FileZilla

3. Consider Changing Your Password

If you are unsure whether the password is correct or secure, change it through your Seedbox account settings and try again.

4. Utilize SFTP for Connection

Instead of using FTP or FTPS, try connecting through SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol). Some Seedbox plans (e.g., Basic, Swift, or Supreme) are configured to use SFTP, and FTP/FTPS protocols may not work for these accounts.

Following these steps will typically resolve errors related to login authentication. If issues persist, it may be helpful to consult additional resources or seek assistance from Seedbox support.
