Generate a secure share link using the "Secure Link" feature
Generate a secure share link using the "Secure Link" feature

Create secure and anonymous access to a file in your Seedbox through a generated link without sharing your Seedbox credentials.

Updated over a week ago

Introduction

In this article, we want to show you how to share a file from your Seedbox by creating a secure link that points to that file.

You can then share this file with a friend or yourself for example, for a secure download so you don't have to give the credentials of the seedbox to anyone to access it and get files off of it

Keep in mind that you can't generate a secure link to a directory, only to files!

Note: If you can't find the "File Commander" on your Services page, that suggests you don't have a Lean Seedbox

We'll show you two methods of creating a shared link for your file/files.

Method 1 - Web File Browser

Method 2 - Using File Commander

Creating a shared link using Web File Browser

Step 1

The first thing we'll have to do is to open Web File Browser and locate the desired file that we want to be shared.

Step 2

After we've located our file, right-click and copy the link to the file.

Step 3

Now, paste the copied link inside the Secure Links tab, and click on Request Secure Link button next to the link field.

As a result, we'll get

Now copy that link from the URL field, and share it with your friends.

Creating a shared link using File Commander

Step 1

First, just open the File Commander utility and carry on

Step 2

Now, from the Client Area, where you currently are, go to the Secure Links page and you should see the link of your seedbox in that box

Step 3

Now, switch to the File Commander tab which you've previously opened.

Select the file/movie that you want to share, go to rename the file, but instead of renaming, just copy the full name of it.

There are cases where the file that you want to share is not directly inside /Downloads directory, but inside one more directory besides /Downloads.

In that case, you have to also copy the path of that directory or directories if it's in two... It should look like this:

https://rapidseedbox1005.swift-001.seedbox.vip/<directory>/<filename>

Step 4

You can proceed in the same way as with the filename, copy+paste the folder name, add one more slash, and then copy + paste the filename

Step 5

Switch to the Client Area tab, paste the name/path of the file after the link that was there, and hit Request Secure Link

Step 6

Here you go, you've got the link!

Copy it and try it out, pasting it into a new tab and hitting enter. You should see a pop-up window that asks you where you want to download the file.

Now, you can share that link with whoever you wish to do so.

I don't know what to do next...
